Soldering method of chip capacitors and resistors

Tools required for soldering

Soldering station/soldering iron: for soldering or repairing tiny components

 

Flux: flux or rosin

Anti-static wrist: worn on the hand to prevent static electricity from damaging the mobile phone components

 

Small brushes, blowing balloons: used to blow away impurities around tiny components

 

Anhydrous alcohol: used to clean the circuit board

 

Magnifying glass with light: easy to observe the position of tiny components

 

The soldering steps of the chip capacitors and resistors

 

1. Preheating

Connect the soldering station to the power supply and preheat the electric soldering iron.

 

2. Identification

The soldering methods of chip resistors and capacitors are roughly the same, and the soldering points are also very similar, both of which are two flat contact points. But there is a white line in the middle of the contact point of the capacitor to distinguish the soldering point of the resistor. Chip resistors and capacitors are very tiny in size, and some are only two or three hairs big. Resistors are generally black, and the corresponding numbers on the back of the trademark represent their specifications. There will also be a corresponding mark on the circuit board to mark its position.

 

3. Positioning

First use a soldering iron to melt a little solder to one of the soldering points, then use tweezers to pick up the chip resistors and capacitors and place them on the soldering points, and then use a soldering iron to melt the solder that has just been soldered on, so that one end of the resistors and capacitors is soldered first and fixed Resistor-capacitor.

 

Note: The resistor and capacitor should be placed in the middle of the two soldering points. If the deviation is relatively large, use a soldering iron to melt the solder again, and fine-tune the position of the resistor and capacitor so that they are right in the middle.

 

4. Soldering

First melt some solder to the tip of the soldering iron tip, and then tap the other part of the soldering point.

 

Tip 1: Tin one of the pads first, then use tweezers to hold the patch, align it, and then lightly touch that pad with a soldering iron. After one row is done, tin the other side. Basically, the time to solder a contact is less than 1 second.

 

Tip 2: For manual soldering, it is easier to solder the 0805 package with the original 0603. Similarly, 0603 pads are better soldered with 0402 components. The hand soldering speed is fast, the solder joint is small, and it is easy to align.

 

If you are worried about the influence of temperature, use a capacitor with a small package, the soldering temperature can be lowered, and the soldering time can be shortened a lot.

 

5. Modification

 

After soldering the resistors and capacitors, observe whether the solder joints are qualified and beautiful. If it is unsightly, it should be soldered again, and a proper amount of rosin or flux should be applied to make the solder surface round.

 

6. Clean

 

Take a bean-sized cotton ball, hold it with tweezers, dip it in 95% alcohol, and clean the rosin or solder flux on the surface of the circuit board.
